This was explained in a blog post by an IOTA community member, Hugo Gregersen. It’s based on how Alexa, the virtual Amazon assistant can be integrated with IOTA protocol.
Other functionalities that IOTA holders could easily leverage will be found in Amazon Alexa, after following the simple steps properly.
Incorporating Amazon Alexa with IOTA
As an illustration in the blog post, Hugo Gregersen used an imaginary hotel owner, who received funds from numerous devices and services running on IOTA into various crypto wallets. He pointed out that it would take the hotel owner a lot of time to sort out the addresses one at a time.
He said in this regard, incorporating Amazon Alexa with IOTA will serve as a simple solution, since the outcome of the process would allow him to check his IOTA balances in his wallets with a voice command.
To make this happen, users should simply install Alexa on their iOS or Android device.
Users can check their IOTA balances by creating a new Alexa Skill in the Developer Console. This can be done by uploading the Python code containing all the necessary functions for a new Alexa Skill in the Amazon Web Services cloud.
After the above step, users need to specify invocation, intents and utterances. Code phrases that get Alexa to work with the newly created skill need to be specified.
For instance, by saying “get IOTA balance” loudly, the Alexa on the skill will be activated. Also, the virtual assistant will tell users the amount of coins in their wallets if they simply say “Alexa, get iota balance.”
